As we work our way through the cold months of winter, there\u2019s no better time to rediscover the Everhart Museum<\/a>! Current exhibitions and galleries range from local interest, such as Scranton to Scale: Don Clark\u2019s Miniature Memories, to subjects that are literally out of this world with Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe. Of course, there\u2019s plenty in between. And as always, there\u2019s a slate of fun and educational programs and events upcoming to foster community engagement in natural history, science, and art.<\/p>\n

\nExhibitions at the Everhart<\/p>\n

Open through July, Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe<\/a>, developed by NASA and the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibit Service, immerses visitors in the magnificence and mystery of the Hubble Space Telescope\u2019s and James Webb Space Telescope\u2019s mission of exploring planets, stars, galaxies, and the universe. The exhibition features scale models of the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope; hands-on experiences; and iconic images and data of planets, galaxies, regions around black holes, and other fascinating cosmic entities that have captivated scientists for centuries.<\/p>\n

\nScranton on Display<\/p>\n

Scranton to Scale: Don Clark\u2019s Miniature Memories<\/a>, on view through March, presents intricately detailed models of iconic Scranton landmarks, including the Everhart Museum, the Scranton Times building, the Masonic Temple, and more. This remarkable collection returns to public view following extensive restoration nearly 50 years after it began touring the region. It will be nostalgic for those who remember it from its time at the Mall at Steamtown, Gertrude Hawk\u2019s Chocolate, and more, and will be awe-inspiring for those discovering it for the first time.<\/p>\n

\nScranton in the Starring Role<\/p>\n

Marking the series\u2019 20th anniversary of the series that put Scranton on the pop culture map, The Office Exhibition<\/a> runs through October 2027. This first-of-its-kind exhibition in the city that
inspired it engages visitors with original props, memorabilia highlighting local connections, interactive experiences, behind-the-scenes stories, and a nostalgic walk through all nine seasons of The Office. Come celebrate the iconic bond between Scranton and America\u2019s favorite workplace comedy. This special exhibition requires an additional entrance fee; see website for details.<\/p>\n

\nLove and Laughter in the Air<\/p>\n

Spend some of your Valentine\u2019s week with the Everhart, as we\u2019re hosting two fun Valentine\u2019s-themed events for adults in the leadup to the day.<\/p>\n

First, on Thursday, February 12, Funny Wine Girl Jeannine Luby returns to the Everhart for A Galentine\u2019s Evening of Rom and Com<\/a>, and she\u2019s bringing some very special guests. It\u2019s a night of mocktails, romance, and comedy under one roof as comedians Luby and Micki Orlowsky perform a mix of stand-up and improv comedy, and romance author Tina Gallagher reads from her stories.<\/p>\n

\nGetting Crafty<\/p>\n

On Friday, February 13, the Everhart invites adults to kick off Valentine\u2019s weekend with its first-ever Crafty Hour<\/a>; a lively, hands-on evening where art, music, and creativity take center stage. Dance along to live music from Cowgirl Pills, design your own Valentine\u2019s cards with artist Joanna Wallace, try gallery drawing among the exhibitions, and enjoy live fashion sketches of guests in their Valentine\u2019s Eve outfits by Kalinosky Live Art. Sip from a make-your-own mocktail bar, snack on light bites, strike a pose at a Valentine\u2019s-themed photo stop, and enter a raffle featuring gift cards from several beloved local businesses. Whether you come dressed up or just ready to create, Crafty Hour is all about making something fun and unforgettable.<\/p>\n

\nSupporting Young Artists<\/p>\n

As the host of the 2026 Scholastic Art Awards for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Region<\/a>, the Everhart Museum is proud to announce that this year we received over 500 submissions from students representing more than 40 schools across the region. Each February, the Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition celebrates outstanding student work selected through the juried awards process, highlighting a range of award recipients and artistic voices from our region. The exhibition will be on view for one month as winning students prepare to advance to the national level of the competition this spring; so stay tuned for more information. As the nation\u2019s longest-running and most prestigious awards program for creative teens, the Scholastic Art Awards provide an exceptional platform for young artists in grades 7\u201312 (ages 13 and up), spanning a wide variety of mediums and offering opportunities for both regional and national recognition.<\/p>\n

\nInspiring Young Minds<\/p>\n

In a continuing partnership with the Lackawanna County Library System, the Lackawanna County Bookmobile<\/a> is returning to the Everhart for several dates to bring library services directly to the community, making books and resources more accessible than ever. With a wide selection of library materials available, there\u2019s something for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Next up, the Bookmobile visits the Everhart from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5 and Thursday, March 5.<\/p>\n
