A boys’ basketball team in Lackawanna County is getting national attention after a play you have to see to believe.<\/p>\n
DUNMORE, Pa. \u2014 It’s a once-in-a-lifetime shot that sealed the deal in Tuesday night’s varsity boys basketball game between the Dunmore Bucks and Old Forge Blue Devils.<\/p>\n
“I didn’t, I didn’t even think I was capable of doing that,” said Brayden Canavan, Dunmore Jr.\/Sr. High School senior.<\/p>\n
“It was honestly an amazing feeling. Like, I know he hit the shot, but like it felt like I hit the shot too, just say the whole fans crowding the field, the court,” said Nate Aviles, Dunmore Jr.\/Sr. High School junior.<\/p>\n
With just two seconds left, senior Brayden Canavan pulled up from half court and hit nothing but net.<\/p>\n
“It just went in, and then like, all I remember is like celebrating with all my teammates and uh the fans,” said Canavan.<\/p>\n
“I’ve seen him hit half-court shots hundreds of times, so as soon as he released that, I knew, I knew it was going in,” said Aviles.<\/p>\n
The excitement around the buzzer-beater win against a cross-town rival spread fast.<\/p>\n
It was seen by millions Wednesday morning when it was featured as a top shot on national television.<\/p>\n
“My dad actually woke me up at five o’clock in the morning, to show me and and I was actually stunned to see. I didn’t think it would get number one on ESPN’s top shot, so I was, you know, I was just stoked to see that, and it was, it was a great feeling,” said Canavan.<\/p>\n
“I’m sure everybody around the area and uh throughout the country who is from Dunmore is, you know, sees that clip and is just is so proud of it,” said Mark Finan, Dunmore Boys Basketball coach.<\/p>\n
The win moves the Bucks to 15 and 1 on the season.<\/p>\n
And while another shot like this would be nice. “I don’t know, but we’ll see about that. I’ll have to take each game, you know, one at a time. We’ll see what happens,” said Canavan.<\/p>\n
