Warren, PA \u2014 Warren residents are bracing for colder temperatures and additional snow this week as the region faces another round of winter weather.<\/p>\n
City officials say crews are staying ready as conditions continue to challenge road maintenance. The area has already seen a mix of snow, ice, and thawing, creating slick roads and difficult conditions for drivers. Officials noted that the back-and-forth nature of the weather has required crews to remain flexible and respond quickly as temperatures fluctuate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to be ready for it, but once the weather gets into the low teens and single digits, what we are going to see this weekend, our salt doesn’t really affect anything,\u201d said Joe Reinke, superintendent of the City of Warren Department of Public Works. \u201cSo we are trying to get a lot of the snow moved off, to get those roads as bare as we possibly can before the bitter cold comes. But once that cold comes, we are just trying to keep the snow off the roads, keep it as passable as possible until the weather warms up enough for the salt to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
City officials are also reminding residents to give snowplows plenty of space and to follow the city\u2019s even-and-odd parking rules during snow events to help crews clear streets more efficiently.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe unfortunately have been unable to plow multiple roads this season due to parking issues; people parking across from one another on the road and not leaving enough space for the plows to come through,\u201d Reinke stated. \u201cSo we are asking drivers to be mindful of the even-odd parking days, or to park in a driveway if that\u2019s possible. We have been lucky this season and have not had any accidents, but we are advising everyone to watch out for the blinking lights and give the plows the space they need to work.
