Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula and pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase both remain in the mix, but NFL rules state the Steelers cannot interview them again until after the NFC Championship Game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">McCarthy\u2019s name, though, has conjured up debates. On one hand, he is a proven head coach with a Super Bowl win and a history of winning with two blue blood franchises. On the other, he is 62 and Pittsburgh tends to hire young in hopes of keeping that coach for the long-term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky shared his thoughts on the matter, saying the Steelers hiring McCarthy in hopes of bringing Aaron Rodgers back in 2026 would be a big mistake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cHiring Mike McCarthy and bringing Aaron Rodgers back would be the worst decision Pittsburgh could make,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Steelersdepot\/status\/2014350092480987638?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Orlovsky said on Get Up<\/a>. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not an indictment on each of them or either of them individually. Mike McCarthy is a really good coach. Obviously, Aaron is one of the all-time greats.
