{"id":9431,"date":"2025-10-20T22:33:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T22:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/9431\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T22:33:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T22:33:07","slug":"ai-summit-underway-at-pitt-highlights-positive-impact-of-innovation-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/9431\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Summit underway at Pitt highlights positive impact of innovation \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 The University of Pittsburgh kicked off the Global Innovation Summit on Monday morning, discussing technology, AI and healthcare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Panelists included University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Joan Gabel, Carnegie Mellon University President Farnam Jahanian, Ohio State University\u2019s President and University of Nebraska System\u2019s President.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s all kinds of new leading-edge discoveries from cancer care and other diseases that are some of our biggest social challenges are powered by AI,\u201d Chancellor Gabel said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Gabel says the university is implementing AI across campus and UPMC to improve health care across Western Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cWhether it\u2019s the triaging of patients, supply chains, how you schedule the people who work in hospitals, you can think about all the different ways of AI can improve outcomes and ultimately improve clinical outcomes so that patients are healthier,\u201d Gabel said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Gabel says it\u2019s important that AI is accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cWe want to make sure that it\u2019s accessible that everybody has a shot and that AI can make that possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Gov.
