In just a few months, the Pennsylvania primary election will be held. And while it is set for May 19th, poll workers have taken the oath of office in Erie County. This was day two of swearing\u2011in ceremonies.<\/p>\n
Judge Pete Sala and Judge David Ridge presided over the ceremonies this week.<\/p>\n
The workers affirmed a commitment to uphold the integrity of elections and to ensure a free and fair election for all voters.<\/p>\n
Erie County Chief Clerk Karen Chillcott emphasized that \u201cthis oath matters because democracy depends on people who honor their word. When our poll workers raise their right hand today, they are making a commitment that every ballot will be handled with care, and every voter will be treated with dignity and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tonia Fernandez, director of elections, highlighted the importance of poll workers, stating, \u201cElection workers are integral to the election process. They are our champions of democracy, who make sure every vote counts.\u201d<\/p>\n
