Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for all of New York due to anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/rochester\/weather\/2026\/01\/22\/january-snow-and-cold\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">severe winter weather<\/a>\u00a0over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>An overnight shelter will be open at\u00a0100 E Tupper Street Buffalo from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served for 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. A daytime warming shelter will be available at the same location from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Those needing transportation to the shelter can wait at the NFTA Metro Transportation Center from 5-7 p.m. to obtain bus tickets there.<\/p>\n<p>A Code Blue goes into effect when the temperature reaches below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
