The Lehigh Valley is expected to receive 12-18 inches of snow through Monday, disrupting Lafayette College\u2019s spring semester move-in. Here\u2019s what you need to know about the storm.<\/p>\n<p>Forecast<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures are expected to drop to 7-8 degrees on Saturday night, with a high of 21 degrees the next day and up to 18 inches of snow starting Sunday morning. Wind gusts may reach up to 30 mph, with high winds continuing into the week. Snow is expected to stop early Monday morning, the day that will see the week\u2019s temperature high of 25 degrees, followed by potentially subzero temperatures early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re expecting much colder, very cold weather to persist, starting tonight through pretty much right through next weekend as well,\u201d said National Weather Service meteorologist Alex Staarman, who represents the local weather branch serving the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Snow is not forecasted for the remainder of the week; icy conditions may be expected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrepare to be just hunkered down wherever you are,\u201d Staarman said. \u201cMake sure you have enough food and supplies for the daytime Sunday and through Sunday night, and maybe even Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lafayette College<\/p>\n<p>Students were encouraged to arrive on campus before 5 p.m. on Saturday by an email from Lafayette Communications. Upper and Lower Farinon are currently available for meals, with meal plans opening a day earlier than previously scheduled. Skillman and Kirby Libraries will remain closed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DT3QGQykeMn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sunday<\/a>, but are expected to reopen for the start of classes.<\/p>\n<p>In-person classes on Monday remain up to the discretion of the professor. Space heaters and other electrical appliances are prohibited in college-owned residence halls by the <a href=\"https:\/\/facilitiesops.lafayette.edu\/info-for-students-families\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Student Code of Conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the snow emergency period, parking will not be permitted on McCartney or Cattell Streets. (Graphic courtesy of the City of Easton)<\/p>\n<p>Easton<\/p>\n<p>The snow emergency will be in effect between 5 p.m. on Saturday and Tuesday at noon, during which parking is prohibited on specific \u201cSnow Emergency Routes\u201d designated by the city. The full list of routes can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easton-pa.com\/271\/Snow-Emergency-Winter-Operations\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">City of Easton website<\/a>. Citizens who live on these roadways are permitted to park in downtown garages. Trash and recycling collection for the week will be postponed by one day beginning Tuesday.
