JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Some in Berks County are starting to take the impending storm more seriously. People are hitting stores like Reifsnyder’s Ag Center and Boyer’s Market in Jefferson Township to get ready for the snow expected this weekend.<\/p>\n
“The way everyone’s reacting, it looks like they’re preparing for the worst. It seems like it might be bad. I don’t know, we’ll see how it goes. Everyone’s acting like it’s gonna be pretty bad though,” said AJ Reifsnyder at Reifsnyder’s Ag Center.<\/p>\n
The winter storm necessities, like food, snow shovels and rock salt, are being purchased as the anticipation of what’s to come mounts. One woman we spoke to tried to remember the last big snowstorm.<\/p>\n
“It’s been a couple years. It’s been quite a few years, like, I was little,” said Alaina Nolt of Bernville.<\/p>\n
“We haven’t gotten a storm like this since 2003 or something like that. Since we got the last big one,” said Jay Eckenroth. “I stock up on the salt. I have a diesel tractor, so I make sure that’s all filled up and gas for the snowblowers that I have.”<\/p>\n
And so the preparation continues as people pay attention to the forecast and make sure they have what they need.<\/p>\n
“I stock up on my wood pellets, make sure I have plenty of that. And my generator. If I do lose electric, I’ll have the generator for back up,” Eckenroth added. “Were not one to run out and get milk and bread like a lot of people do.
