A 27-year-old North Whitehall Township man was shot and injured by police after firing a gun from his vehicle and pointing it at officers, state police said.<\/p>\n
Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, troopers were called to the 2800 block of Rockdale Road in North Whitehall Township for the report of a disturbance involving a male with a gun. There, they found a 27-year-old man seated in the driver\u2019s seat of a car parked in the driveway of the residence. He had a handgun in his possession.<\/p>\n
Despite efforts to have the man exit the car peacefully, he fired his gun from the car more than once, and pointed the gun at troopers multiple times, police said.<\/p>\n
The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team arrived on scene and attempted to negotiate. Around 2 p.m., the man fired his gun from the car, and was shot by a SERT member, police said.<\/p>\n
The male, whose identity has not been released, was treated at the scene by Northern Valley EMS and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for his injuries, police said. No officers were injured.<\/p>\n
