A 27-year-old man has died after being shot by troopers during a standoff Saturday in North Whitehall Township.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s officer said the man, whose identity has not been released, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday at Lehigh-Valley Cedar Crest.<\/p>\n
The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M \u2013 Major Case Team, the Lehigh County Task Force and the Coroner\u2019s office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday.<\/p>\n
At 11:03 a.m., troopers from PSP Bethlehem were dispatched to the 2800 block of Rockdale Road, North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, for the report of a disturbance involving a man with a gun.<\/p>\n
Troopers saw the man, a North Whitehall Township, resident, was seated in the driver\u2019s seat of 2009 Toyota Camry in the driveway of the residence. He was holding a handgun.<\/p>\n
Troopers established a perimeter around the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the man to peacefully exit the vehicle. During this time, the man discharged the gun from the car, more than once, and also pointed the gun at troopers multiple times.<\/p>\n
The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team arrived on scene and attempted to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the man. Police said at approximately 2 p.m., the man discharged his gun from the vehicle and a SERT member shot him.<\/p>\n
The man was treated at the scene by Northern Valley EMS who transported him to Lehigh Valley Hospital \u2013 Cedar Crest for his injuries. The were no injuries to law enforcement.<\/p>\n
