A man wounded during a shootout with Pennsylvania State Police troopers on Saturday has died of his injuries, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The shooting followed an hours-long standoff<\/a> outside a residence in Lehigh County.<\/p>\n

Troopers were called to a home on the 2800 block of Rockdale Road in North Whitehall Township just after 11 a.m. for a report of a man with a gun causing a disturbance, according to Pennsylvania State Police.<\/p>\n

Troopers found a 27-year-old township man sitting in a car parked in the driveway, armed with a handgun, officials said.<\/p>\n

Police tried to talk the man into surrendering, but he fired the weapon \u201cmore than once,\u201d and aimed it at the troopers several times, police said.<\/p>\n

The state police Special Emergency Response Team tried to negotiate with the man, but the standoff came to an end around 2 p.m. when police said he \u201cdischarged his firearm from the vehicle and was engaged by a SERT member who shot the male.\u201d<\/p>\n

The man was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he died shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office announced Sunday.<\/p>\n

An autopsy is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The man\u2019s name has not been released. <\/p>\n
