The average price for a gallon of gas is two cents lower in Pennsylvania this week at\u00a0$3.014, according to AAA East Central\u2019s Gas Price Report.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>In the Lehigh\u00a0Valley,\u00a0the average price for a gallon of gas on Jan. 26 was $2.980.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0down from\u00a0$2.991 one week ago.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>In the Harrisburg area, the average price for a gallon of gas dropped to $3.018, down from $3.037\u00a0one week ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0But\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a different picture across the country as\u00a0winter weather grips much of the\u00a0nation.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>AAA reports that\u00a0the national average for a gallon of regular\u00a0gas\u00a0has gone up six cents over the past week to $2.88. Even though the national average is higher this week, prices are still 24 cents cheaper than they were a year ago. This is the time of year when gasoline demand is usually lower as fewer drivers hit the road, it noted.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0According to\u00a0new data from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpbj.com\/tag\/energy-information-administration\/\" class=\"st_tag internal_tag \" rel=\"tag nofollow noopener\" title=\"Posts tagged with Energy Information Administration\" target=\"_blank\">Energy Information Administration<\/a>\u00a0(EIA), gasoline demand decreased last week from 8.30 million barrels per day to 7.83 million. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 251 million barrels to 257 million. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 8.8 million barrels per day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0At the close of Wednesday\u2019s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate rose 26 cents to settle at $60.62\u00a0a barrel. The EIA\u00a0reports\u00a0crude oil inventories increased by 3.6 million barrels from the previous week. At 426.0 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 2% below the five-year average for this time of year.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Listen to this article Local and state gas prices are bucking national trends and have\u00a0decreased slightly.
