The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> have hired a replacement for the star coach they lost to an NFC East rival.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are promoting Joe Kasper to become the team\u2019s defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator, according to NFL Network\u2019s Cameron Wolfe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kasper is taking over the role vacated by Christian Parker, who was hired as the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 defensive coordinator<\/a> last week. <\/p>\n

Parker was deemed a big but expected loss after the 34-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Parker is credited for helping turn Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean into All-Pro players. Mitchell and DeJean were first and second-round picks in the 2024 NFL draft, arriving in Philadelphia around the same time Parker did.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019d be the player I am or I\u2019d have the success that I\u2019ve had without (Parker),\u201d DeJean said earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Many figured it was only a matter of time until Parker landed a defensive coordinator role elsewhere. <\/p>\n

But when Parker left, the Eagles had Kasper, another promising coach, as a logical replacement.<\/p>\n

Kasper joined the Eagles as a quality control coach for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He joined Vic Fangio\u2019s defensive staff with the Miami Dolphins as a safeties coach in 2023 before following Fangio to Philadelphia in 2024. <\/p>\n

Kasper served as the team\u2019s safeties coach in 2024 and 2025 and made his presence felt with all the defensive backs. <\/p>\n

\u201c(Parker) and coach Kasper, what those guys mean to us in the DB room, how they coach, the intensity they bring, the passion they have for the game, means a lot to us,\u201d DeJean said. \u201cDoesn\u2019t go unnoticed.\u201d<\/p>\n
