The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has outlined plans to widen a 4.7-mile stretch of FM 982 between U.S. Highway 380 and FM 546, presenting the first full schematic of the proposed project during a public meeting Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Longhorn 2020 Event Center alongside the route.
The agency is seeking public input through Dec. 30 as engineers refine the design and prepare environmental documents required before any construction can begin. The project is not yet funded, and bids cannot be let until funding is identified, according to TxDOT’s presentation.
TxDOT officials said the project is intended to address increasing traffic volumes, improve safety and bring the roadway up to current design standards.
