Dorothy Crain, 74, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1950, in Littlefield, Texas to Jimmie and Lora Mae Bass.

     Dorothy graduated from Sudan High School in Sudan, Texas. She went on to marry the love of her life, Mike Crain, on July 19, 1973, in Littlefield, Texas. Mike and Dorothy made their home in Amherst, Texas. They were blessed with a son and daughter. Their family continued to flourish, and they were able to make memories with their grandchildren, whom they loved dearly. Dorothy was known as ‘Nanny’ to her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. There were plenty more memories that were made while camping in Tres Ritos. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sisters. The joy they all had together was felt in their presence with one another.

     In addition to the love she had for her family, she also loved shopping. While shopping, Dorothy was not in need of anything, but she loved looking for her next purse. She had one of the biggest hearts and will be remembered for her big laugh. Her smile and laugh were contagious. Dorothy spent her years working at the First National Bank in Amherst, Texas. She enjoyed working at her job and kept her position at the bank for thirty-five years. Dorothy was also a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She loved God and going to church.

     Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Mike Crain; a son, Brad Crain and wife Heather of Windthorst, Texas; a daughter, Angie Sollis and spouse John of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Carter Crain and wife Lainie, Drake Sollis and wife Raegan, Maci Sollis; great-grandchildren, Brigz Parker, Lawsyn Crain, Lennox Sollis; three brothers, Cleveland Bass and wife Dora of Littlefield, Texas, Elton Bass and wife Melisha of Lubbock, Texas, Joe Bass and wife Pam of Abilene, Texas; and sister, Margaret Lance of Lubbock, Texas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Lora Mae Bass, and her sister Lona Cook.  

     Graveside service for Dorothy Crain will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst, Texas with Dale Turner officiating and Scott Bass assisting. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Drake Sollis, Carter Crain, Scott Bass, Joe Bass, Harley Bass, and Tim Gonzalez.  

Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
