SAN ANTONIO – Potential record hot day today but relief is on the way for Sunday as a cold front moves south. While not a blast of cold air, it will be strong enough to bring a 8 to 15 degree swing in temperatures, gusty winds and a big drop in humidity levels.

Lets start with temperatures. Today ahead of the front, temperatures will spike to the low to mid 90s. The record high in San Antonio is 93 set in 2007. We will likely tie this record. This evening will be pleasantly warm for those outdoors. Sunday starts mild and a bit humid early in the morning as the front is pushing through. By Sunday afternoon, highs will stay in the mid 80s despite full sunshine. This is still technically a warmer than normal day but with low humidity and after a day in the 90s, it will feel much nicer.

The true payoff for those that enjoy Autumn cool, crisp weather will be Sunday night to Monday morning. Our first morning with widespread 50s is likely including San Antonio. Even a few upper 40s is possible. This will be a brief bout of cool air though as already by Monday afternoon we’ll be up around 90 degrees.

Wind gusts Sunday behind the front will range from 20 – 30mph through 1pm then weaken by late afternoon. Humidity levels will tumble as well with dew points in the 20s & 30s. This will also combine to increase our wildfire risk in the area given how dry it is. Be careful with fire Sunday.

Unfortunately, this will be a dry front too with no rain chance. Showers and storms will stay in East – North Texas through today to Sunday early morning.
