There has been a lot going on in Aggieland over the last few weeks with finals, the Texas A&M football CFP game, and the Aggie volleyball team making history. A team that is currently flying under the radar is the Texas A&M baseball program, which has just made another key coaching hire, 52 days before the season officially starts.
Following last season, Jace Hutchins, the A&M Director of Pitching Development, moved on and is now the pitching coach at Lamar, opening up a valuable role on Michael Earley’s staff. On Wednesday, up‑and‑coming Arizona Diamondbacks pitching coach Dylan Olsonawski confirmed via his social media that he will be joining the Aggies to take over the position vacated by Hutchins.
After wrapping up his college career at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and completing a short stint at ASU as a graduate assistant, he joined the Diamondbacks organization in the player development department. While there, he spent the majority of his time in the film room, which helped sharpen his eye for identifying pitchers’ strengths and weaknesses.
His role eventually expanded to include pitch design and the development of individualized plans for major league pitchers, further elevating his reputation as a rising pitching‑development mind.
Olsonawski is committed to being the best coach he can be for his pitchers and focuses on helping them use the tools they already possess freely and confidently to become their best selves on the mound.

“At the end of the day, it’s get the guys to be athletes. The second you get them to stop thinking, all of a sudden the athlete in them takes over. These are some of the best athletes in the world getting to pitch here, so let the athleticism take over.”
“…., that’s what this coaching is about: Servant leadership. You want to see these guys have success. We live through them, and when they have success, obviously it’s good for us, but you want to see these guys dominate…”
Below is the announcement from Olsonawski’s official X account.
Texas A&M will open the season against Tennessee Tech in a three-game series starting on February 13 at Blue Bell Park in Bryan-College Station.
