Cheniere Energy Inc. has reached substantial completion of Train 4 at its 10-million tonne/year (tpy) Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Stage 3 Project in Gregory, Tex. The company on Dec. 19 took care, custody, and control of the train from Bechtel Corp., Cheniere’s engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.
It marks the project’s fourth midscale train completion in 2025. CCL Stage 3 will comprise seven mid-scale trains in total. Trains 1-3 were completed in March, August, and October 2025, respectively. The three remaining trains are expected to achieve substantial completion in 2026.
Cheniere is building an expansion adjacent to CCL Stage 3 consisting of two additional midscale trains with an expected total production capacity of about 5 million tpy, inclusive of estimated debottlenecking opportunities. The company’s board made a positive final investment decision with respect to the CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9 Project and debottlenecking, and full notice to proceed was issued to Bechtel in June 2025.
Completion of Stage 3 and Trains 8-9 will bring CCL’s total capacity to more than 30 million tpy.
