An El Paso man was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated assault in connection with a rollover crash that knocked down an overhead traffic sign on Interstate 10 in Central El Paso, authorities said.

Andres Rubio, 31, was arrested on one count of intoxicated assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury in connection with a Sunday, Dec. 21, crash on the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Geronimo and Paisano drives, El Paso Police Department officials said in a post on social media.

Two people injured in the crash were taken to hospitals for treatment, El Paso Police Department officials said in a Dec. 21 news alert. No information on their current conditions has been released. The wreck caused the highway to be closed for several hours.

No further information has been released.

Rubio was booked into the El Paso County jail on Wednesday, Dec. 24, on a $75,000 bond, jail records show. He was released from jail the same day after posting bail, jail logs show.
