Catholic Charities Resale Center opens, hoping to help community find great deals at a great price

  • October 18, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock residents can now shop at the Catholic Charities Resale Center, which has reopened with new apparel and lower prices.

The thrift store near 34th Street and Avenue N aims to provide assistance to community members in need, according to store manager Olivia Rojas.

“We’ve all been there. I’ve been there, that’s what I tell everybody,” Rojas said. “It’s sometimes hard to ask for help but that’s what we’re here for, we’re here to help our community, to help our brother and sister. We’re all God’s children, so there’s nothing wrong asking for help, we’ve all been there.”

Store features donated merchandise

All merchandise in the store comes from donations. Cynthia Quintanilla, executive director for Catholic Charities said.

She says the store offers a little bit of something for everyone.

“Lots of great finds, whether that’s household goods or clothing or shoes, we’ve got some brand new boots sitting on the shelf, so lots of good things that one might consider not so useful and others may find it as a treasure,” Quintanilla said.

Revenue from store purchases supports the non-profit’s community programs. The organization uses proceeds to fund its Family and Youth Success Program, Kinship Navigator Program and Direct Client Assistance Program, and more.

“Every purchase that is able to happen actually goes into each one of the programs we have here at Catholic Charities,” Quintanilla said. “All of the programs benefit people here in the community, so all of it stays local.”

Rojas said she has experienced difficult times herself and finds fulfillment in helping others who face similar challenges.

“I get to help people, sometimes…stuff happens and you need that little help,” Rojas said. “Something as little as a jacket or a pair of shoes, a pair of pants, something like that, and that’s what we’re here for, is to help our community and that’s my favorite part about this,” Rojas said.

The store accepts donations on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Community members can visit the store at 34th Street and Avenue N for shopping or to make donations.
