Texas hopes it saved its season last week with a 23-6 victory over then-No. 6 Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas. The Longhorns scored 20 unanswered points in the second half after trailing 6-3 at intermission, taking the lead midway through the third quarter on Arch Manning’s 12-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. before Ryan Niblett sealed the win with a 75-yard punt return score in the fourth. Manning was an efficient 21-of-27 for 166 yards in the win, while Quintrevion Wisner ran for 94 yards on 22 carries. Defensively, Colin Simmons had 2.5 of Texas’s five sacks while Malik Muhammad picked off two passes.
Kentucky returns from a bye with a 0-2 SEC record and a two-game losing streak after a 35-14 defeat at then-No. 12 Georgia on Oct. 4. Redshirt freshman Cutter Boley has thrown for 627 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions in four games, while Seth McGowan powers the running game with 431 yards and seven scores. Kendrick Law leads the team with 19 receptions and 174 yards with a TD.
The Longhorns have won each of their two meetings with Kentucky, including a 31-14 win at home last season.
