Following a viral YouTube video shot by Independent Journalist, Nick Shirley, Tom Emmer (R-MN) posted the video on X asking Governor Tim Walz over the $4 million taxpayer funded learning center, with a sign that read: “Quality Learing Center”. In addition, Shirley and another man in the video working with him, questioned an alleged worker outside the facility who began yelling: “ICE, ICE” as if Shirley was an ICE Immigration Border Patrol Agent. The video also showed there seemed to be little to no activity at that time during the middle of the work week and no sign of any children- as Shirley pressed the lady outside the facility for answers. He also cited the millions of taxpayer dollars used to fund the daycare center.
A new report says the video has gone viral amid the burgeoning scandal enveloping the Walz administration that notably included at least $1 billion lost to alleged social services fraud largely tied to the Somali Community in the Twin Cities. Reports say a portion of that ended up in the hands of the Somali terror group Al-Shabab.
“This is a prime example of the billions of dollars in fraud happening right now in Minnesota. This is one of the hundreds of ‘daycares’ receiving millions of dollars from the government. This daycare (that can’t even spell learning right) received $1,900,000 in tax-exempt funding from CCAP in 2025. This is just one of the thousands of fraudulent businesses operating in Minnesota.” Shirley said.
Senator Rob Johnson (R-WI) posted on X: “Minnesota Somali fraudsters are amateurs compared to the groups that have been feeding off federal welfare for decades. As Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, I will use my subpoena power to obtain state records needed to uncover what is sure to be even greater levels of fraud.”
