To those who never played sports past high school or never at all, it can sometimes be difficult to understand what a successful post-college football career looks like. For former Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger, the journey was filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. In the end, he carved out a role in professional football he can genuinely be proud of.

Sternberger spent one season at Texas A&M, but it was a memorable one. He was a consensus All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection.

After amassing 48 receptions, 832 yards and 10 touchdowns, he was selected in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 NFL Draft. Plagued by injuries and an NFL suspension, he bounced around the league. Only three years removed from the draft, it appeared his playing days were finished, but an opportunity arose with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. He made the most of that chance. He went on to become an All-USFL/UFL selection and won a USFL/UFL title.

Following another short NFL stint, he returned to the Stallions, where he earned another All-USFL/UFL selection and win a USFL/UFL title. While a long and illustrious career wasn’t in the cards, he was able to build a pro career and retire a champion.
