SAN ANTONIO – The family of Edward “Fatso” Trejo gathered in tears on Sunday, joined by more than 100 people at Louie’s Icehouse for a balloon release to honor the 29-year-old friend, brother, and son.
Trejo was killed in the early morning of Dec. 21 outside a Christmas party on Cincinnatti Ave.
Investigators report that 41-year-old Paul Flores approached from another street to address a noise complaint. A verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Flores allegedly shot Trejo multiple times.
Trejo’s sister recalled, “My parents were struggling at the time, so he had to go get a job. He quit, like with all his other stuff, just to get a job so that we could succeed.” His brother added, “So we could play our sports, and I could play football, Army, so she could be playing softball. He did a lot for us.”
Their mother questioned Flores’ actions, saying, “Why would you knock on that door? Why didn’t you just call the police? Why wouldn’t you just wait? He went with intent. He went with intent to hurt someone, and he hurt my son.”
