Trunk-or-Treats Light Up the Hub City

It’s officially spooky season in the Hub City — and that means one thing: it’s time to grab your costumes, gas up the car, and make the rounds at all the Trunk-or-Treats popping up across Lubbock. Families looking for a safe (and candy-packed) way to celebrate Halloween have plenty of great options this year!

The LubbockPRIDE Trunk-or-Treatkicks things off Saturday, October 18th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church. Expect colorful cars, creative costumes, and community fun all afternoon.

Then on Thursday, October 30th, First Presbyterian Church on 130th Street will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. It’s always one of the biggest in town, with dozens of decorated vehicles and plenty of sweet treats. And on Halloween night, Second Baptist Church (6109 Chicago Avenue) invites everyone to stop by for their own family-friendly celebration beginning at 5:30 p.m.

There’s even a Community Trunk-or-Treat & Fall Fest happening Thursday, October 23rd, featuring food trucks, vendors, and local businesses handing out goodies.

Not-So-Scary Family Fun

If you’d rather mix science with your scares, the Science Spectrum’s Spooky Science Carnival on October 30th is a Lubbock favorite. This “spooky, not scary” event includes science demos, games, bounce houses, and indoor trick-or-treating — a perfect option for younger kids.

Texas Tech University’s Tech-or-Treat event also returns Tuesday, October 28th inside the Student Union Building. It’s hosted by Tech student organizations and gives kids a chance to show off their costumes while filling those candy buckets without worrying about weather.

Of course, not all Halloween fun is for the kiddos. If you’re looking for some grown-up thrills, Nightmare on 19th Street continues its reign as one of the top haunted attractions in Texas. Adults can also toast to the season at McPherson Cellars’ Halloween Party on October 31st — or join the Downtown Lubbock Pub Crawl on Saturday, October 25th, complete with costume contests and drink specials.
