TEXAS —Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock, in a partnership with the Texas Bullion Depository, has announced an inaugural series of commemorative gold and silver bullion products.

The “Texas Lone Star Coins and Modern Texas Redback Gold Notes” will feature designs commemorating the rich history of Texas, according to a press release on the Comptroller’s website.

“Texas has a long tradition of independence and fiscal stewardship,” Hancock said. “These new products reflect that spirit, combining enduring Texas symbolism with precious metals of the highest purity. The Texas Lone Star Coins and Modern Redbacks offer Texans and others a unique opportunity to own precious metal products that honor the state’s rich heritage. They are meticulously crafted under the direction of the Texas Bullion Depository and the state of Texas.”

The Texas Bullion Depository is the only precious metals storage facility and mint administered by a state. According to the press release, this new commemorative series is the next step in introducing bullion to a new generation.

“This new program is designed to commemorate the history and spirit of Texas while also introducing a new audience to the services provided by the Texas Bullion Depository,” said Depository Administrator of the Texas Bullion Depository Macy Douglas.

The announcement also included the unveiling of new gold notes that are inspired by The Republic of Texas banknotes. According to the release, gold notes all have a layer of gold within the bill, describing the amount of gold and which design it will be associated with.

“Unlike their historical predecessors, the modern Redbacks are crafted with intrinsic value. Each note contains a precise, verifiable layer of 24-karat gold deposited onto a durable polymer substrate. Each Modern Texas Redback Gold Note is individually numbered and bears the seal of the state of Texas, along with the signatures of the governor and acting comptroller.”
