Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt.
Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt is set to appear before a judge Friday after her arrest over the weekend on a misdemeanor burglary charge, court records show.
Wyatt, 55, was arrested Saturday afternoon and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of burglary of a vehicle. She is accused of breaking into another person’s vehicle with intent to commit theft.
Wyatt was released from jail Sunday on bond and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Wyatt, a Democrat who was elected to the county treasurer office in November 2022, did not immediately respond to a voicemail and email seeking comment Tuesday. A woman who answered the phone at her office hung up after a reporter identified himself and stated the reason for the call.
A defense attorney who previously represented Wyatt in a DWI case said he had not spoken to Wyatt or been hired by her in relation to the burglary charge.
In December 2023, near the end of her first year in office, Wyatt was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly having a blood-alcohol concentration of at least .15% — nearly twice the legal level in Texas. The case record includes two bond violation reports: one in January 2024 for failing to obtain an ignition interlock device for her vehicle that tests for blood alcohol content, and another in March 2024 for a blood alcohol content level that was above the legal limit.
The DWI charge was dismissed in August 2025 after Wyatt completed a pretrial diversion program, court records show.
