Monterey drops to 4-4, 2-2 in district with 35-21 loss

  • October 19, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Monterey Plainsmen currently sit at fourth place in district as they fell to the Tascosa Rebels 35-21 Friday night at Lowrey Field.

With the game tied 7-7 in in the second quarter, Rebel QB Coltyn Fulton pitched the ball to Reese Cabe, who skipped into the end zone for the 14-7 lead. The Plainsmen responded when QB Jonah Reed found WR Quarren “Q” Boyd, who shook off several Tascosa defenders while making the catch. Moments later, Reed found WR Cam Taylor for the Monterey score. From there, the Rebels posted three more touchdowns as they clinched the win- remaining unbeaten in district.

The Plainsmen are off next week, but will return to play Oct. 31 at Shotwell Stadium to face the Abilene Eagles- another undefeated team in 5A D1- District 2.
