If you’ve ever belted out “Como La Flor” in your car like Selena herself could hear you then this one’s for you. A new local short film, La Reina Que Quiero Ser (The Queen I Want To Be), is officially searching for our very own Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, and yes… open auditions are happening right here in El Paso, TX. *Cries in Spanish*

All those years of practicing the “washing machine” and wearing bright red lipstick can finally pay off, literally because this gig is a paid gig!

“La Reina Que Quiero Ser” Is A Film From A Local Selena Fan

Set in March 1995, the film follows Miguel, a young boy navigating grief after the loss of his idol Selena, while learning to embrace who he truly is through his mother’s love and the healing power of music. It’s emotional. It’s cultural. And it is probably going to make us ugly cry throughout the whole movie!

They’re casting “La Reina del Tex-Mex” herself, and auditions are open to ages 18–30 (no younger than 16; under 18 needs a parent). If you feel right for the role then you are encouraged to show up!

Here’s what you need to know before the audition:Selena-inspired outfit? Mandatory.Read a scene (they’ll provide it).60-second lip-sync to a Selena song of your choice.First-come, first-served—early birds win.
