Apart from its East Coast and Midwest contributions, the project remains anchored locally and leans heavily toward minimalistic indie rock arrangements. Sprinkled throughout the compendium are gleaming outliers like KindKeith’s dreamy alt-R&B, rap cuts from Pretty Boy Aaron and Ben Buck, and electro-drenched synth-pop from Pelvis Wrestley’s Jammy Violet. A slew of live recordings and demos from familiar favorites like sleep well. and Stalefish, along with a kinetic cover of Charli XCX’s “Talk talk” from sun-soaked Willy Steg, texturize the dynamic collection, offering bursts of spontaneity that reinforce the album’s DIY-driven framework. Tracks ebb and flow with willful pacing and balance intensity and restraint while threading together disparate styles into a continuous, engaging sequence.
