One of Jon Sumrall’s first big moves after arriving at his new job at Florida was to make sure wide receiver Dallas Wilson, a former five-star recruit in the 2025 class, knew he was a top priority with the Gators new regime.

Mission accomplished.

On Wednesday, Wilson announced that he was staying in Gainesville.

“He was very electric,” Wilson told the Gators NIL partner, Florida Victorious about UF’s new head coach. “He brought a lot of energy to the room — something we really hadn’t seen before. It was a different type of juice, and I immediately liked it. I feel like he’s the kind of coach who’s going to bring the best out of every player on the field.”

Sources told The Athletic that Wilson likely would’ve been able to command at least $1 million and maybe as much as a little over $1.5 million if he had entered the transfer portal from other programs.

The Florida native, a 6-foot-3, 215-pounder who had been committed to Oregon before flipping to UF last winter, had 12 catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns in just four games from an injury-shortened season. In an upset win over No. 9 Texas, Wilson set a Gators record for yards (111), receptions (6) and touchdowns (two) by a true freshman in their first college start.
