Sports is something that Texas is no stranger to. High school football is big here, but it’s more than just that. Fans of any Texas team sometimes travel to see their team play too!
How Much Does Texas Loves Its Sports Teams?
Many in the state of Texas cannot go a day without seeing a Texas themed sports item when out and about. It could be a Texas Longhorn hat, or perhaps a TCU bumper sticker that one spots. Of course, there’s always a stare-down that happens when rivals run into each other.

That statement is very true when people are traveling to and from games. Home and away games bring out the most diehard fans of Lone Star teams, and you can cut the electricity with a knife, so to speak. But getting to the game is the first part right?

So if a Texan is flying somewhere for a game, they’ve got to go to the airport. Is there a airport in the United States that stands above the rest though?
Is There An United States Airport That Is The Best For Fans Of Sports?
To find out the answer, we turn to BetUS. There were three major factors used to determine the top ten. And yes, they’re exactly what you think they are:
– Charging Stations
– Free WiFI
– Lounges
– Sports Bars
– Stores Selling Sports Memorabilia
With those in the mind, there was one airport that stood above the rest. Yes, it was in the state of Texas too! But what was the airport you ask?
None other than Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport! In total, the airport had a total of 20 lounges, sports bars reaching a number of 15, stores selling sports related merchandise at five. That was good enough for a score of 90.4.
If you’re flying to a sporting event in Texas, it looks like DFW is the airport you should go to!

Sports movies tell the stories of figures and teams that were undervalued, overlooked or stood very little chance of becoming a champion. These moments can be a source of inspiration or just valued entertainment.
They can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, send a tingle down your spine and make you want to run through a brick wall. These are the sports movie speeches that can get anyone hyped. Gallery Credit: Lou Milano Youtube/ParamountVarsity Blues Jonathan Moxon takes over the locker room after halftime after their coach abandons them and says:
“We got the rest of our lives to be mediocre, but we have the opportunity to play like Gods for the next half of football. But we can’t be afraid to lose, there is no room for fear in this game.”
Ooh baby this movies always pumps me up, even in scenes where they are losing to the tune of “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC. Youtube/MGMRocky 3 OK, most people will talk about Rocky 4 and yes, that movie is great and can get you hyped but most Rocky scenes that can power your adrenaline are montages or fight scenes with little or no dialogue. However, there is a scene in Rocky 3 that gets my energy up, and it comes at a moment when Rocky is down on himself. Rocky is half-heartedly training with his friend Apollo Creed, when Creed realizes Rocky’s head is somewhere else. When Apollo confronts Rocky and tells him to get his head into the training session, Rocky says “tomorrow.” Creed responds simply:
“There is no tomorrow, there is no tomorrow, there is no tomorrow.”
It’s my favorite negative reinforcement moment of all-time, not just in a movie and if doesn’t get you going, I can’t help you. Yourube/Walt Disney Remember the TitansRemember the Titans is loaded with moments that will raise the hair on your neck, like Coach Yost shouting, “I don’t want them to gain another yard, you blitz all night and if they cross the line of scrimmage, I’m going to take every last one of you out.” But it’s a more subtle scene that gets me fired up, one of the best inspirational speeches ever delivered in a movie. Coach Boone leads his young players and his staff on an early morning jog to Gettysburg where he stops the exercise and addresses the team saying:
“This is where they fought the battle of Gettysburg. 50,000 men died right here on this field. Fighting the same fight and we’re still fighting amongst ourselves today. This green field right here was painted red, bubbling with blood of young boys smoke and hot led going right through their bodies. Listen to their souls men, killed my brother with malice in my heart. Hatred destroyed my family. You listen, take a lesson from the dead, if we don’t come together, right now on this hallowed ground, we too will be destroyed, just like they were. I don’t care if you like each other or not but you will respect each other. And maybe, I don’t know, maybe we’ll learn to play this game like men.”
You should see me, watch this scene, I stand up I pace around, I cry and get chills and then I shadowbox. Youtube/Walt Disney Miracle Recently I’ve become very interested in the Danbury Hat Tricks hockey team and I’ve attended a lot of games this year. That said, I’m not an NHL fan, I didn’t grow up on the sport and I don’t really know much about how it’s played. I’m not a hockey guy but I am an American and I support any Red, White and Blue team competing on the international stage I was 1 year old when the famous Miracle on Ice game took place in Lake Placid, NY and the upstart American team did the impossible defeating the Soviet Union. I’ve seen clips of the game my whole life, as a sports fan I know all the dramatic real-life stories that surrounded the game. So when the movie about the U.S. team and their coach came out, I had to see it and it’s been one of my favorite sports movies since. Kurt Russel plays coach Brooks and delivers one of the most inspirational sports speeches ever captured on film, he says in part:
“Tonight we skate with them, tonight we stay with them, and we shut them down because we can. Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players, every one of you and you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time, their time is done, it’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have, screw em’. This is your time, now go out there and take it.”
This movie makes me want to skate real hard, check harder and shoot the puck like you read about. There is only one problem, I can’t stand up on ice skates. Youtube/Sony Pictures Rudy In 1993 Rudy came out in theaters and anyone with a dream had a story to lean on. This movie made me feel like my dreams weren’t stupid and I don’t think I was alone in that. Sean Astin played “Rudy” Ruettiger and Charles S. Dutton played a character called Fortune. In a moment of doubt, Rudy decides he’s ready to give up on his dream of dressing for a game at Notre Dame. It’s at this moment Fortune delivers a speech that sports and movie fans would be quoting for years to come, he said:
“You’re 5 feet nothing, a hundred and nothing and you got hardly a speck of athletic ability and you hung in with the best college football team in the land for two years. And, you’re also gonna walk out of here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this lifetime, you don’t have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself and after what you’ve gone through, if you haven’t done that by now, it ain’t gonna never happen, now go on back.”
The only problem with the movie Rudy, is the second I remember it exists, I have to go back and watch it again.
