And so another year ends with the Cowboys failing to win a Super Bowl, or even come close, extending the franchise’s 30-season drought even further.
What can the owner say to the fans in a situation like this?
In Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ recent appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), Jones was offered the opportunity to speak directly to the fans and offer up some kind of consolation for what is another failed season, on the playoffs/Super Bowl front, at least.
Did Jones atone? Did the sales pitch for 2026 start right away? Did he drop to his knees and beg forgiveness for his misguided moves made ahead of the season? Well, it wasn’t that dramatic, but he did make a promise to fans at the end of his answer.

Question: “Is there anything else you’d like to say to the fanbase about the season or anything else just to recap?”
Jones: “Absolutely, to all of our fans, not just the ones listening, but we made a big decision two years ago when we basically extended Dak [Prescott] and made him the emphasis of our roster going forward. And what we do has been to get that in shape to get us to the playoffs and get us to the big game, the Super Bowl. We’ve made steps toward that, believe it or not, we have.
“We’ve enhanced the offensive line, we’ve enhanced the receiving corps, the running corps around Dak. And so I feel very good about where we are there. Now we’ve gotta get in there and be more solid. We can’t just depend totally on turnovers. Now you can’t be void of turnovers, but we’ve gotta have a more solid defense. That’s disappointing this year. And we will get better on defense next year, I promise you that.”
