MATHEWS, La. — Houston Christian Men’s Golf closes out its fall season this week at the La Tour Intercollegiate, held October 20–21 at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews, Louisiana. The event will feature 36 holes of play on Monday, beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT, followed by a final 18-hole round on Tuesday, with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. CT.
The Huskies will compete as one of 14 programs in the field, joining host Nicholls, along with East Texas A&M, New Orleans, Southeastern, UIW, Jackson State, Loyola University New Orleans, Midland College, Prairie View A&M, South Dakota, Southern, Spring Hill College, and Texas Southern.
LaTour Golf Club, a 7,177-yard, par-72 championship course designed by David Toms, presents a mix of wide fairways, water-lined approaches, and challenging greens. The course rewards precision off the tee and demands strong course management, particularly across its lengthy par-fives and guarded pin placements. The layout’s combination of risk and reward opportunities will test players’ accuracy and composure throughout the 54-hole event.
Houston Christian enters the tournament following a steady performance at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, where the Huskies finished 11th in a strong field at Westwood Golf Club. Brooks Pawlak led the way for HCU with a 1-under 71 in the final round, finishing tied for 31st at +5 overall. Pawlak’s front-nine surge included four birdies as he turned at three under par, showcasing composure and consistency on approach shots.
Mason Napier delivered his best round of the tournament with a 2-under 70, climbing the leaderboard to finish in 36th place. Napier made four birdies on the day and demonstrated steady control throughout his final stretch. John “Cooper” Camp remained consistent across all three rounds, closing with a 73 to tie for 47th at +9 overall. Carter Patterson, Brendon Willey, and Clayton Smith round out the lineup this week, each looking to contribute valuable rounds to close the fall campaign on a strong note.
The Huskies’ six-player lineup at La Tour will include:
Brooks Pawlak, Cooper Camp, Carter Patterson, Brendon Willey, Mason Napier, and Clayton Smith.
This week’s event marks the final tournament of the fall season for HCU before the team resumes competition in the spring. The Huskies will return to play at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Texas, on February 9–10, followed by a busy spring slate that includes tournaments in Laredo, Sugar Land, Houston, Mobile, and Jonesboro before the Southland Conference Championship in April.
