RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Inconsistent play led to the UT Arlington women’s basketball team (6-8, 0-2 WAC) falling 85-64 to the California Baptist Lancers (8-7, 2-0 WAC) inside the Fowler Events Center on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Mavs had three players score in double figures, led by Kira Reynolds, who had 15 points and two blocks. Jadyn Atchison added 13 points while Erin Sellers chipped in with a career-high 12 points from the bench.

Amiyah Reynolds pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for UTA, grabbing 11 boards and turning them into 14 second chance points.

UTA did a great job disrupting CBU shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Kira Reynolds’ two rejections led the way individually for the Lady Mavs, giving her 41 on the year. Laura Bello also finished with two blocks for the contest.

GAME FLOW
After recording the first bucket of the game, the Lady Mavs would fall behind thanks to a 14-0 Lancers run before UTA responded with a bucket with 4:38 left to go in the first. Down 24-10, UTA went on a 9-0 run with 1:42 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Sellers, to narrow its deficit to 24-19, a score that would hold for the rest of the period.

California Baptist kept adding to that lead, building a 43-29 advantage before UTA went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Kira Reynolds, to narrow its deficit to 43-36, a score that would hold until halftime.

After intermission, UTA cut its deficit to 45-39 before going on a 6-0 run to tie things up at 45 with 6:40 to go in the third. The Lady Mavs could not advance their rally further as the Lancers took a 63-49 lead into the fourth quarter, thanks to a 12-0 run to end the third by CBU. UTA knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 13 total points.

UTA could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 85-64. The Lady Mavs pulled down three offensive rebounds to score four second chance points out of 15 total in the period.

GAME NOTES
The Lady Mavs shot well from three point range, knocking down four of 10 long range attempts.
Erin Sellers scored a Division I career-high 12 points in the loss.
UTA got a team-high nine rebounds from Amiyah Reynolds, a new career-high for the redshirt-sophomore.
The UTA bench continued their consistent play by adding 23 points to its scoring output.
The UTA defense forced 16 turnovers.
The Lady Mavs were active in affecting shots on the defensive end, tallying five blocks as a team, the seventh time this season UTA has finished with five or more blocks in a contest as a team.
UTA cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 11 offensive boards in the game.
Kira Reynolds led the Lady Mavs with 15 points, the eighth time this season she’s finished with double digit scoring efforts.
UTA got seven rebounds and two blocks from Laura Bello.
CBU recorded 52 points in the paint compared to UTA’s 32.
The Lancers shot 26-percent from deep, the 11th time out of 14 games that the Lady Mavs have held opponents to under 30-percent from behind the arc.
UTA falls to 0-4 all-time against CBU in Riverside.
