Police confirmed two pedestrians, including a 2-year-old child, were injured after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on a west Lubbock freeway.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating in the 3000 block of West Loop 289 after responding to a report of a crash involving two pedestrians at 2:52 p.m. Jan. 1, according to a statement from Lubbock police.

A two-year-old suffered serious injuries and was taken via EMS to Covenant Children’s Hospital.

Police did not release additional details about the other victim or the circumstances of the crash as the investigation is ongoing.
