Red Raiders end season with 41 sacks

  • January 2, 2026

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (KCBD) – While the Texas Tech Red Raiders season came to an end at Thursday’s Orange Bowl, there is one element of silver lining. Two more sacks were tallied and the Red Raiders’ vaunted defense ended the year with 41 sacks, which brings more money to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest.

Sacks include:

1Q, first drive: OLB David Bailey sacks Oregon QB Dante Moore on third down on their own 32yd line, a loss of 12 yards, forcing the Ducks to punt.1Q, 1:21: OLB Romello Height sacks Moore on the Ducks 25, resulting in a loss of ten yards.

While the Red Raiders’ historic season has officially ended, Lubbock’s RMDH chapter is still accepting charitable donations.

How you can help

For more than a quarter century, Texas Tech Athletics has partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. Every sack leads to more money raised.

There is still time for you to donate this season. Click here – for the Quarterback S.A.C.K. website. Fans can pledge to donate any dollar amount for every sack made by Texas Tech defense during the football season.

All proceeds help to give back to those families who need it most.

The Ronald McDonald House in Lubbock provides families with a home away from home when they have a child receiving medical care. Families who stay at the House may have a newborn staying in the NICU, a child receiving cancer treatments, or needing any other medical care. Families within our local children’s hospitals, Covenant Children’s and UMC Children’s, are also able to take a break and grab a snack at our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms inside the hospitals. These rooms offer respite and comfort as well as access to basic necessities like showers, laundry, coffee, snacks, and more.
