Week 8 of the 2025 college football season delivered arguably the best Big 12 Conference matchup of the season.
Arizona State took down the No. 8 team in the country, Texas Tech, at home, shutting down an explosive Red Raiders‘ offense, holding them to just 276 total yards. The reigning conference champions looked the part in the 26-22 win with quarterback Sam Leavitt throwing for 319 yards and connecting with star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson for 105 yards, including a game-saving fourth-and-2 completion.
Another highlight matchup game from the Holy War rivalry between No. 14 BYU and No. 22 Utah. Both teams put up a fight, but the Cougars eked it out in the end, thanks to two turnovers despite Utah’s 470 yards of offense. BYU is now atop the Big 12 standings with its perfect 7-0 (4-0 Big 12) record.
Elsewhere around the conference, Cincinnati continued its tremendous run, dominating Oklahoma State on the road, while UCF got a much-needed first conference win of the year against West Virginia. Houston kicked a game-winning field goal to defeat Arizona, while TCU triumphed in a shootout against Baylor after intercepting Bears’ quarterback Sawyer Robertson three times.
It was a lighter Week 8 slate, but some significant results have shifted the top tier of our power rankings as we move into the second half of the 2025 Big 12 schedule.
