EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency DWI Task Force arrested 35 people during an enhanced enforcement operation during the New Year’s holiday.
According to the sheriff’s office, of those 35 individuals arrested, 26 were charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), while the rest faced traffic-related offenses, drug possession, and outstanding warrants.
Sheriff Oscar Ugarte emphasized the importance of these operations, stating, “Choosing to drive impaired puts innocent lives at risk. Our message is clear: if you drink and drive, you will be arrested.”
The El Paso Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and El Paso County Constables also supported the holiday operation.
According to the sheriff’s office, it remains dedicated to preventing impaired driving and ensuring roadway safety through proactive enforcement and collaboration.
