CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 68-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening on Ayers Street, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched just after 6 p.m. to the 3300 block of Ayers Street near Tarlton Street in reference to a major traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they located a male pedestrian with serious injuries. Police immediately began administering first aid until medics arrived on scene.
Due to the severity of the crash, CCPD traffic investigators were called in to investigate. Investigators later determined the man was crossing Ayers Street outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene following the crash.
