The Cowboys say they’re playing to win, but they also just put both Javonte Williams and Malik Davis on IR to make room for their rookie duo. Dak Prescott will start the game, but it doesn’t seem like Dallas is necessarily pushing all their chips into the center on this one, nor should they.
My guess is Brian Schottenheimer is playing this one to get his guys some bonuses, however that may look. In Prescott’s case, securing his passing yards crown is the goal; he currently leads Matthew Stafford by a mere 34 yards. So I see Schottenheimer dialing up plenty of deep shots and easy button throws to create some distance, especially knowing his defense will give plenty of reason to keep airing it out and trying to score.
