EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The City of El Paso, in collaboration with In Blume, is set to host the New Year’s Eve El Paso Star Drop to welcome 2026.

The free, family-friendly event will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight on Dec. 31 at San Jacinto Plaza with live music, DJs, and a countdown to the new year.

Now in its second year, the celebration will feature a new 30-foot Star Drop with LED lights, powered by El Paso Electric.

KFOX14/CBS4 spoke to the man who created the new star, Pedro Almodovar, who said this year’s design aims to match the star on the mountain.

“We got to do the event last year as well, and so this year, we were pretty happy that they called us back for this year again, and we wanted to definitely step it up, and so we’ve been working on this star, and this is the design for this year. I mean, you know, definitely, we wish that we had a lot more time, but we’ve been at it for about like a month and a half, two months now, and yeah, this is the process of it,” Almodovar said.

He added, “Really, the idea behind it was to match the star at the mountain. I think it’s pretty obvious that’s kind of what we wanted to do, but we also wanted to add a little bit more flair to it and a couple of other design elements.”

The event will include performances by DJ G Cue, Lucha Lucha, International Sonora Skandalo, and DJ Johnny Kage.

Attendees can also enjoy food from the Holiday Food Truck Village.

“We are proud to partner with the City of El Paso to bring a one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve celebration to our community,” In Blume Owner Gus Chavez said.

The celebration is part of the WinterFest season, which concludes on Jan. 4.

In Blume will offer a VIP area for an upgraded experience.
