EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A traffic stop in northwest El Paso on Friday led to the arrest of a man after he allegedly assaulted a deputy and attempted to flee.
Deputies stopped 34-year-old Eduardo Garcia at the 6300 block of Arce Drive for a traffic violation and observed signs of intoxication.
After failing field sobriety tests, Garcia was informed of his arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.

He resisted arrest, striking a deputy multiple times before fleeing on foot.
Sheriff Oscar Ugarte stated, “Driving while intoxicated endangers everyone on our roadways, and assaulting a deputy will never be tolerated.”
Garcia was apprehended and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated 2nd and Assault on a Peace Officer, with a bond set at $14,500.
