FORT WORTH, Texas — A police chase in Fort Worth ended tragically when a suspect vehicle crashed into a utility pole, resulting in the death of a passenger and leaving the driver in critical condition. The incident occurred on January 3, 2025, after officers attempted to stop a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue.
The vehicle’s occupants ignored police commands, made a U-turn, and fled, prompting a pursuit. Another officer later spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects fled again, eventually losing control and crashing near the 1500 block of E 4th Street, according to Fort Worth Police.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene despite officers’ efforts to render medical aid, while the driver was transported to a local hospital.
The Major Case Unit and Traffic Investigation Unit are investigating the incident, and further information, including potential charges for the driver, will be released as the investigation continues, stated the source.
