The Texas Longhorns were able to pull off a hard-fought win over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday night. It wasn’t pretty, but it was an important win that moved the team 5-2 on the season.

Arch Manning has been struggling to begin the 2025 college football season. His struggles have become a national storyline. They have also brought up a lot of concerns about whether or not Texas can truly be a College Football Playoff contender.

Once again against Kentucky, Manning struggled throughout the course of the game.

When all was said and done against the Wildcats, Manning completed just 12 of his 27 pass attempts for 132 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. Those numbers obviously aren’t going to get the job done for the Longhorns.

Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns

Following yet another rough performance, Texas is being urged by fans on social media to consider making a shocking decision regarding Manning.

“When is Texas gonna bench Arch Manning it’s Texas they gotta have some talent on the bench,” one fan wrote.

Another comment read, “I hate to say this, I really do. But it’s time to bench Arch Manning. No way their backup QB could be worse.”

“BENCH ARCH MANNING,” a third comment said.

A fourth fan commented, “how bad arch manning is, is truly mind blowing, and the fact texas refuses to bench him because of his name is sad for the rest of the team.”

“I think at this point you have to tell Arch Manning to fake an injury, soft bench him, and tell him to transfer,” a fifth comment read.

Entering the season, Manning was expected to be a potential Heisman Trophy contender. What he has actually produced has been a massive disappointment.

After the game against Kentucky, Manning has completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 1,449 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions on the season. He has also run for 193 yards and five scores.

It will be interesting to see if the Longhorns consider making a change. Also, it will be interesting to see if Manning can turn things around as the season moves forward assuming he remains the starter.

Expect to continue hearing a lot about Manning moving forward. If the struggles continue, the frustration will continue to rise.
