EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Big things are rolling into El Paso and they’re bringing lifesaving care directly to the children who need it most.
El Paso Children’s Hospital recently unveiled the newest addition to its “Wheels That Heal” fleet: a state of the art pediatric mobile clinic designed to expand healthcare access across the region. The special unveiling and red ribbon cutting ceremony event gave the community a first look at the innovative unit, along with another major milestone the hospital’s brand new jet ambulance, now officially in service.
The mobile clinic represents a major step forward in delivering pediatric care beyond hospital walls, while the jet ambulance enhances emergency transport capabilities for critically ill children.
One of the most impactful additions to the hospital’s fleet is the new dual cab jet ambulance. Unlike traditional transports, this upgraded allows parents to ride alongside their child during critical transfers, eliminating the need for families to follow behind in separate vehicles during some of the most stressful moments imaginable.
The new pediatric mobile clinic functions as a fully equipped, moving doctor’s office complete with advanced medical technology and lab style capabilities. The unit is designed to travel throughout the region, including neighborhoods with limited transportation options, ensuring children and families can access quality healthcare.
The unveiling also celebrated leadership at El Paso Children’s Hospital, including recognition of Dr. Cindy Stout, the hospital’s first female and longest serving CEO. Her leadership has helped transform the hospital and expand its reach, reinforcing a mission in compassion, ethics, and service to the community.
Stepping inside the mobile clinic offered a firsthand look at its impressive, state of the art equipment. A clear sign that this unit will play a vital role in improving pediatric healthcare access across El Paso.
With the Wheels That Heal program continuing to grow, El Paso Children’s Hospital is once again proving that innovation, compassion, and community partnership can move healthcare forward.
