Fort Worth just got a par-3 so good, it’s begging for Rodney Dangerfield to crash the clubhouse.

Gophers need not apply.

Discovery Land Company, a global leader in luxury real estate development, has announced the grand opening of a new 9-hole, par-3 course at Maverick Golf & Ranch Club, marking the first of three golf experiences planned for the exclusive Fort Worth community.

Designed by world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, the course represents an early milestone in the club’s long-term vision, officials said.

Known as the Pinkerton 9, the par-3 course sits within 1,100 acres of rolling farmland and offers sweeping views of the Fort Worth skyline.

“The par-3 is the perfect opening act for Maverick. It embodies our core philosophy of creating world-class golf experiences that are fun and accessible for the entire family,” said Michael Meldman, founder and chairman of Discovery Land Company, in a statement. “It’s the ultimate place for a parent and child to spend an hour, or for friends to settle a friendly wager before dinner. This community is built on the spirit of Fort Worth, and its design ensures golf is a relaxed, joyful part of the Discovery lifestyle.”

The course is the first to debut among three Fazio-designed layouts planned for Maverick, which will ultimately include a full 18-hole championship course scheduled for completion in fall 2026, followed by a 12-hole course.

Fazio said the shorter format offered an opportunity to focus on creativity and playability. “Designing a 9-hole par-3 course allows for pure creativity and a focus on the most enjoyable aspects of the game — it’s a shot-maker’s paradise without the time commitment of a full round,” he said. “At Maverick, we used the natural changes in landscape to create highly playable holes that will challenge the accomplished golfer while still welcoming the beginner. It truly sets the stage for the championship course to come.”

In addition to its golf offerings, Maverick Golf & Ranch Club will feature extensive practice facilities, including a range house, a dedicated golf teaching facility, and a short-game area designed to support players of all skill levels.

Beyond golf, the club plans a wide array of luxury amenities, from a state-of-the-art clubhouse, spa, and fitness center to a kids’ adventure center, family water park, fieldhouse, racquets complex, and outdoor sports fields. Members will also have access to hiking, biking, fishing, and an Outdoor Pursuits program with curated adventures and family-friendly events. The community’s culinary program will be supported by an organic farm and family farm, reinforcing a connection to the land and a focus on sustainable living.
