LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the kidnapping of a one-year-old child following a break-in at an apartment complex.
According to LPD, officers were called to an apartment in the 5500 block of 58th Street around 11:20 p.m. Monday for reports of someone breaking into an apartment, shooting a gun and taking a one-year-old child.
Police immediately began searching the area and investigating the circumstances of the kidnapping, which they said was not random.
About an hour and a half later, officers located 20-year-old Patrick Contreras.
LPD says the child was found unharmed and returned to its mother.
Contreras was arrested on multiple charges and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center without incident.
He remains in custody as of Tuesday morning.
