Two-year captain linebacker Taurean York took to social media to announce he will forgo his senior season to enter the 2026 NFL Draft.
“The past three years have been absolutely incredible for me,” York said in the statement posted to his X account. “I’m proud of everything I accomplished wearing the maroon and white, but I know this is just the beginning. This move marks the start of my professional journey and I’m committed to elevating my game to the highest level.”
This season, York received third-team All-SEC honors and led the team with 72 tackles. He recorded seven tackles for a loss, one sack, five quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
In his three seasons leading the Aggies, York tallied 228 tackles, 25 tackles for a loss, 6½ sacks, one interception, eight defended passes, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
The Temple native came to A&M as a three-star in the 2023 class.
A&M will now look for a new leader on defense, and has added Tulsa linebacker Ray Coney to the mix via the transfer portal. He now looks set to take over York’s middle linebacker spot for the 2026 season.
